Unit 329 (3.2) Written and Verbal WEEKLY Evaluations

Challenges we faced through the process of creating and performing as part of a group:
14/09/17
At first we found it a little difficult to come up with ideas as the the subject of our sequences was time, and so we were a little confused with what we could do with the whole concept of time and how it moves. We also struggled a little when it came to our facial expressions as we weren't sure what facial expressions we could use to represent how our characters were feeling.
21/09/17
As a whole group we found some of the moves we learnt a little difficult to do and so we had to incorporate quite simple rolls, turns, and slides and other basic movements like that. Another challenge we faced was to do with the timing of the piece because we were all doing different types of movements at different times some of them took a longer amount of time when others only took a short amount of time to do. Therefore this caused a little bit of a problem when it came to making things look more slick and run smoothly.
05/10/17
In the lesson today we focused on the first sequence of our performance and there were a few challenges that we encountered whilst learning the phrase. Our first issue was with timing, because some people in the group weren't too confident with the choreography of the phrase they were falling behind sometimes but we all worked as a group to make sure everyone knew all the different movements and make sure everybody felt confident.
12/10/17
This lesson consisted of Tamsin and I working on our duet for the beginning of the piece. Learning our choreography went really well and we were both very confident with all the moves as they were quite simple and we didn't face any challenges during our time learning the choreography.
19/10/17
Our challenges in the lesson today were similar to the ones of previous lessons as it was mostly to do with timing. As per usual there were still some people who were rushing ahead and others who were falling behind a little and so to overcome this we went over it slowly with everyone and without the music to make sure everyone knew the correct timings for the piece so far.
26/10/17
We fully finished the choreography for the dance show today in the lesson and doing so didn't bring too many challenges except one. That challenge was to do with the transitions, because throughout the rehearsal the transitions constantly looked quite sloppy and messy. To make this better and to be able to make the transitions flow smoothly we need to keep working on the piece and focusing especially on the transitions to make sure everything looks slick.
09/11/17
We didn't run into that many challenges in this lesson as we were only going over the different elements of contemporary dance that we had included in our final ensemble dance piece.
30/11/17
In this lesson we were going over our physical theatre pieces from Hope Springs and the challenges that my group faced this week were mostly to do with the movements of the other groups pieces. We thought that we wouldn't be able to do most of the moves from one certain group as they were quite complicated and so we were worried that we wouldn't be able to do them. However we overcame our fear by making a couple of the moves simpler and going over each move slowly so that we could really understand the dynamics of each move.
09/01/18
Throughout this lesson we were working on our Hope Springs trio's and figuring out different ways to improve them. My group struggled a little to this as we weren't sure which elements of contemporary dance to add in as none of us were overly confident with those sort of moves. However we found a solution to our problem by taking inspiration from the contemporary dance moves we had learnt, and we made them simpler so that we didn't have to worry about not being able to do all the moves.
